Hello, this is Gerard O’Dea. I am the Director of European Operations for Vistelar.

I wanted to share this video I made for a client I am working with. These proxemics strategies come in handy in other situations besides healthcare.

My clients this week have an enduring issue with one client who often becomes upset and frustrated.

When staff approach him to try to defuse and de-escalate the situation, he sometimes lashes out and has seriously hurt members of his care team. I worked with this team on some personal safety approaches which should help them to work with the client more effectively and give them more options when communicating under pressure.
